Philip Kregor, MD nominated Marc Swiontkowski for the OTA Keystone Honor in 2025. Dr. Philip Kregor is passionate about fracture care, hip surgery and pelvic and acetabular trauma. His orthopedic surgery training was at the University of Washington / Harborview Medical Center where he fell in love with orthopedic trauma. He spent a year in bone microcirculation research at the A.O. Research Institute and then a 15-month traveling fellowship in pelvic and acetabular surgery. He has practiced and helped develop the Orthopedic Trauma programs at the University of Mississippi, Vanderbilt University and Nashville’s HCA Skyline Medical Center. He credits any success he has had to the incredible mentors and OTA friends he has had over the last 35 years. He enjoys cycling, spending time with his daughter and son, and practicing his professionally certified barista skills.

Philip James Kregor, MD - "Dr. Swiontkowski is the epitome of an academic orthopedic trauma surgeon. His leadership and research accolades are all well documented and he is so deserving of these. Equally important, however, is the way in which Marc is a physician and person. I’ve had the privilege of knowing him since I was a medical student. What a role model! Analytical. Humble. Always puts the patient first. Calm. Balanced. Caring. Whenever I am in a tough clinical or life situation, I often ask myself what Dr. Swiontkowski might do. Better yet, I'll just pick up the phone! When Bob Probe announced the Keystone Honor at OTA 2024, I immediately thought of Marc. I’m sure hundreds of others did as well."
