Course Overview

Dates:

November 6, 2025 - November 7, 2025

Location:

Five Labs, Las Vegas

  • Day 1: Lower Extremity
  • Day 2: Upper Extremity

Geriatric fractures and periprosthetic fractures are on the rise. Studies highlight arthroplasty as the optimal treatment for specific fractures, including geriatric femoral head and neck fractures, proximal and distal humerus fractures, and distal femur fractures. Additionally, some periprosthetic fractures necessitate revision arthroplasty alongside ORIF to ensure successful outcomes and reduce complications.

Orthopaedic trauma surgeons, while trained in arthroplasty during residency, often feel unprepared in practice. The growing trend of outpatient arthroplasty further emphasizes the need for trauma surgeons to handle acute fractures efficiently, enabling early mobilization and minimizing complications related to surgical delays.

This two-day course is designed to provide trauma surgeons with the expertise to address these challenges confidently.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Recognize indications for acute and revision arthroplasty in upper and lower extremity fractures.
  2. Master surgical techniques for primary arthroplasty in upper and lower extremity fractures.
  3. Apply surgical techniques for revision arthroplasty combined with fixation in fractures.
  4. Minimize complications in fractures treated with primary arthroplasty and periprosthetic fractures.

Course Highlights

  • Expert Faculty: Learn from 10 experienced faculty members, including two renowned course chairs.
  • Hands-On Training: Engage in cadaveric labs focusing on upper and lower extremity arthroplasty techniques.
  • Case Discussions: Participate in interactive group discussions to explore real-world scenarios and solutions.
  • Comprehensive Coverage: Address critical topics such as periprosthetic fracture management, revision arthroplasty, and minimizing complications.
  • Collaborative Learning: Work closely with peers and faculty in a dynamic, small-group setting.
