Dear OTA Membership:

By now, I’m sure most of you have received notification of the cancellation of the AAOS 2020 Annual Meeting. The OTA Board of Directors supports this decision, and had also independently decided to cancel OTA Specialty Day. The Board’s decision is based on recommendations from the CDC, concern for the health and safety of our members and patients, an increasing number of travel bans, and the importance of serving as leaders in disaster management. In addition to OTA Specialty Day, all OTA meetings and events scheduled to take place the week of March 23 – 28, 2020, are cancelled. Further details and contingency plans for the following will be shared shortly:

  • Specialty Day: Refund details will be sent to all registered participants.
  • OTA Business Meeting: The OTA Business Meeting will be rescheduled as a webinar. The date and time will be shared with the membership as soon as it’s confirmed. An electronic ballot will be provided to voting members to vote for the 2020 Nominating Committee’s slate of candidates.
  • Committee Meetings: Most Committee Meetings, and other scheduled OTA meetings, will be re-scheduled shortly as conference calls, based on dates/times that work best each committee.
Although we are disappointed to share this news with you, the OTA Board of Directors believes our first priority is protecting the health and wellbeing of our members, which in turn ensures the highest possible care of our patients. We are confident this is the right course of action.

We thank our membership for their ongoing support and commitment to the OTA, and advancing orthopaedic trauma care.

Best Regards,
Michael McKee, MD OTA President
