Bone Grafting: Substitutes vs Autograft: Show Me The Money!
Recorded OTA Webinar On-Demand (No CME credit awarded.)
Webinar Description:
This Bone Graft Webinar is intended to help the physician assimilate evidence-based treatment plans for fracture nonunion and management of skeletal defects. We will highlight the various types of nonunions, treatment principles, and most importantly the selection of bone graft for any given scenario. We hope to share important data on the types of bone grafts available (autograft, BMA and allograft) and the cost associated with each type. Finally, we hope to shed some light on the success of different treatment options and potential complications associated with each choice of graft (harvest/auto vs expense/allo).
Objectives:
After the webinar, participants should be able to:
- Identify different types of nonunion and the need for added stability, improved biology or both
- Define various types of bone graft (autograft and allograft) and when best to apply them
- Prepare the management of skeletal defect with the appropriate bone regenerate
- Recognize the success and cost associated with use of various types of bone grafting for treatment of nonunion and skeletal defect.
