Many orthopaedic trauma surgeons live and work in high income countries and are fortunate to have outstanding educational opportunities, training, research and access to state-of-the-art medical resources and hospitals. It is because of these opportunities we consistently improve patient care. But there are many young surgeons in low-middle income countries who do not have the same opportunities and resources.
OTA has established a new Humanitarian Scholarship Effort designed to provide orthopaedic trauma education for young surgeons from low-middle income countries. Scholarships will be awarded at $5,000 each covering the recipients travel, room and board, attendance to the OTA Annual Meeting and the opportunity to participate in an observership at a U.S. Institution with an OTA member serving as a mentor during the visit. Our goal is to provide two scholarships annually.
This is a great way to invest in our global musculoskeletal future, found in our own backyard. Supporting the OTA Humanitarian Scholarship program recognizes and empowers academic surgeons from Low-Middle Income Countries. This has a sustainable impact! All contributions matter, whether $1,000 or $25.00. Thank you.
