Baltimore, MD - Surgeon of Orthopaedics and Trauma
SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
MOI and MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center (MFSMC) is looking for an orthopaedic surgeon who will focus on building a community-based orthopaedic trauma practice. This position will support the large geographic area that MFSMC services and the meet the needs of MFSMC emergency department – which is the busiest in the state of Maryland with over 130,000 visits annually. The preferred candidate should have training and experience in orthopaedic trauma and the willingness to take up to 8 days of call emergency call per month.

MedStar Orthopaedic Institute (MOI) in Central Maryland combines the skill and expertise of more than 80 physicians at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center, MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital, MedStar Harbor Hospital, MedStar Union Memorial Hospital, The Curtis National Hand Center, and more than 20 community locations, giving patients convenient access to the area's top orthopaedic, spine and sports medicine care. Our physicians treat the Baltimore Ravens, Baltimore Orioles, Washington Wizards, Washington Capitals, Baltimore Blast, Baltimore Brigade, US Lacrosse, and the majority of collegiate, high school and recreational teams in the region.
Over the past few decades, the musculoskeletal program at MedStar Orthopaedic Institute has grown to become one of the largest and most active in Maryland. This integrated group of physicians treat tens of thousands of patients each year while also training the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons through one of only three accredited orthopaedic training programs in the state. Several new physicians have joined the regional group in the last several years, expanding the level of access and subspecialty services available to patients.
MedStar Franklin Square:
To better serve orthopaedic, sports medicine, and physical therapy patients, MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center has invested in a new 12,000 square foot orthopaedic center. Included in the new on-campus Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Center, which opened in January 2018, are 20 exam rooms, two imaging suites, a large waiting room, including a pediatric area, and on-site physical therapy managed by MedStar NRH Rehabilitation Network. The twelve experts in this orthopaedic group sub-specialize in the areas of sports medicine, hip & knee replacement, pediatric orthopaedics, hand surgery, spine surgery, general orthopaedics, orthopaedic oncology, and primary care sports medicine. The group will soon also be adding an orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeon.
In 2020, MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center will open a new two-story, 75,000 square foot surgical pavilion that will house 14 larger and more modern operating suites all with a focus on high quality clinical care, teaching and the patient experience. This uniquely designed structure will allow MedStar Franklin Square to move into the next generation of the campus evolution and will enable the hospital to combine advanced technology with compassionate care to create a unique healing environment.
In 2017, MedStar Franklin Square was ranked as one of the Top 10 best hospital in Maryland coupled with being ranked in U.S. News and World Report’s Best Hospitals review.
