An opportunity exists in the Department of Orthopedics with District Medical Group Inc., (“DMG”) for a full time Orthopedic surgeon fellowship trained in Orthopedic Trauma Surgery with interest in developing an orthopedic elective practice in joint reconstruction, sports medicine, foot & ankle, or oncology.  The Department of
Orthopedics staffs two community based hospitals with state designated busy Level 1 Trauma- ACS Verified Centers in the metropolitan Phoenix area (St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center & Maricopa Medical Center).    

The physician’s practice will include orthopedic Level 1 trauma call, inpatient care, outpatient clinic and development of an elective practice.  The physician will supervise and work closely with orthopedic physician assistants, and have an opportunity for teaching residents and medical students.  The Department of Orthopedics performs approximately 1000 operative cases per year.   

Candidates must possess an M. D. or D.O. degree, be currently Board-certified or Board eligible and actively pursuing Board certification, be able to attain or have an Arizona license, and have completed an Orthopedic Trauma Fellowship. Additional fellowship training in the sub-specialties listed above is preferred.  Previous Level 1 Trauma experience is beneficial.

Title:                           Faculty Physician – Orthopedic Trauma Surgery

Dignity Health Medical Group (DHMG), one of the Valley's most respected team of physicians, actively seeking orthopedic surgeon who will share calls covering urgent treatment of orthopedic trauma patients (1:5).  Ideal candidates will have 5+ years of relevant experience and will be fellowship trained and/or have special interest expertise in orthopedic trauma, limb reconstruction, foot and ankle, sport medicine, shoulder and elbow.

Dignity Health Medical Group works in partnership with Chandler Regional Medical Center (CRMC), an ACS-verified Level I trauma center in suburban Phoenix. Our team’s focus is driven around being leaders in education, centered on evidenced based medicine while ensuring consistent collaboration and communications within the team. Our orthopedic trauma team consists of multiple physicians and advanced practitioners, who partner with both hospital physicians and our trauma surgeons in order to provide the best possible care to our patients.

CRM evaluated 80,000 patients in the emergency department and 3,400 trauma patients last year, of which 11% suffered a penetrating mechanism. Our trauma center in on track to care for 3,600 patients this year. Our DHMG surgery team is formally integrated with the William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) General Surgery Residency in El Paso, TX. In addition to general surgery resident coverage, we also have general surgery research residents year round as well as rotating family medicine residents and 24/7 ACNP and PA coverage. We have excellent subspecialty support, including Barrow Neurological Institute neurosurgeons and fellowship-trained orthopedic trauma surgeons. 

Chandler has a population of 260,000 people with a smaller-town atmosphere that is 30 miles south of Phoenix. The average household income in Chandler is $82,954 which is among the highest in the state of Arizona.  This full-time candidate will be joining four physicians and four advanced practitioners who work collaboratively to serve the patients at our Chandler Regional campus.

  • MD or DO Degree and Board Certification
  • Must have or be eligible for Arizona State medical licensure
  • Completed ACGME Residency training with current ABMS Board Certification
  • Ability to achieve full and unrestricted hospital privileges at Dignity Health Arizona hospitals
