The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), in coordination with the American Orthopaedic Association's (AOA) Own the Bone program, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS), the Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA) and in collaboration with Premier Healthcare Solutions, Inc., presents the AAOS Orthopaedic Quality Resource Center, approved by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) as a Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR). The QCDR provides a standard to complete Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) requirements based on satisfactory participation. A QCDR is a CMS-approved entity that collects medical and/or clinical data for the purpose of patient and disease tracking to foster improvement in the quality of care furnished to patients.
The AAOS Orthopaedic Quality Resource Center is approved by CMS as a Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR) for Eligible Professionals (EPs) and organizations participating in the Group Practice Reporting Option (GPRO). Beginning in 2014, the American Joint Replacement Registry (AJRR) was the approved entity from CMS for this resource center. In 2017, AJRR merged with AAOS.
As of this year, we are evaluated by our compliance with MACRA through our participation in the Merit Based Incentive Program (MIPS) or Advanced Alternative Payment Model (APM) pathways. Failure to comply with these programs will result in a reduction in Medicare payments starting in 2019 as shown below.
