Hassan R. Mir, MD

Dr. Hassan Mir is Director of Orthopaedic Trauma Research at Florida Orthopaedic Institute and Associate Director of the Orthopaedic Residency Program at University of South Florida. Dr. Mir completed his Physician Executive MBA at Auburn University. He previously served as Medical Director of Finance and Associate Director of Orthopaedic Trauma at Vanderbilt University.
Dr. Mir completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency training at the world-renowned Campbell Clinic in Memphis, TN. He then completed an additional year of subspecialty training at the prestigious Orthopaedic Traumatology Fellowship at Tampa General Hospital.
Dr. Mir's clinical interests include care of the polytraumatized patient, pelvic and acetabular fractures, and complex peri-articular fractures. He also has interests in clinical and health policy research, medical education, and involvement with multiple national orthopaedic organizations. He serves as the Editor for the OTA national newsletter, Editor of the JOT discussion forum, on the AAOS Diversity Advisory Board and Council on Advocacy, and as a consultant reviewer for multiple journals.
Dr. Mir has authored several peer-reviewed and invited publications, and multiple book chapters. He has presented his research at numerous national and international meetings. Additionally, he has participated as faculty at dozens of courses and training programs across the country. His dedication to education was rewarded with the VOI Resident Teaching Award. His career productivity has been recognized nationally as a recipient of the AOA/JOA Travelling Fellowship to Japan, and as an AAOS Leadership Fellow.
Dr. Mir grew up in West Virginia and was high school Valedictorian. He obtained his undergraduate degree at WVU, where he was Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine from WVU and was Alpha Omega Alpha.
